Religion: Sister Ronald Marie Hax, S.S.J.
Sr. Ronald has served as a teacher and principal at various schools within the Diocese of Ogdensburg for a culmination of over 35 (?) years. She has taught Religion, Math, Science, and Elementary Education to grades one through six. Before Sr. Ronald joined the St. Mary’s family this past year, she was the principal of St. James’ School in Gouverneur for 25 years. She received her Associate’s Degree in business administration from SUNY Canton, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Villa Mare College in Erie, PA, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Niagra University. As a Sister of Saint Joseph, Sr. Ronald served as a Local Superior of St. James Convent from 1981-2004 and a Region Superior of Carthageaeu from 2006-2008.
Sr. Ronald says of her vast experiences, “I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my teaching assignments throughout the diocese. The opportunity to meet and work with so many dedicated religious, laity, and pastors has been filled with many blessings. I have also thoroughly enjoyed working with students of various grade levels and being copartners with parents of the children we teach.” Sr. Ronald is a true blessing to our community. She lives at the convent with Sr. Sharon and their two kittens, Muffy and Fluffy.
Computer & Technology Coordinator: Mrs. Tammy BestMrs. Best began as a volunteer for five years at St. Mary’s and has been working full time here for the past ten. She administers Title I computer-assisted instruction in reading and math to grades kindergarten through seven. She also teaches computer
Teaching Assistants: Mrs. Sharon McKeown and Mrs. Maureen Jebb Mrs. McKeown: “For 39 years, I was privileged to teach Junior High Language Arts at St. Mary’s School. I retired from teaching last June, 2008. However, because of my love of teaching and working with this age group, I am presently volunteering my time three days a week. During this time I help teach 5th grade English and oversee some of the activities I had done over the years such as Stations of the Cross, May Crowning, carnivals, etc. My years spent at St. Mary’s have been the most rewarding years of my life.”
Maureen Jebb received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Queen’s University, in Kingston, Ontario, and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Albany State University. She worked as a social worker at the Dutchess County ARC and Pius XII Youth & Family Services, Holy Cross campus, in Rhinecliff, NY. Mrs. Jebb volunteers at St. Mary’s School four days a week, working with individual children in a wide variety of endeavors, and aiding the faculty in their work as well. Mrs. Jebb also serves as St. Mary’s Athletic Director, coordinating the soccer, basketball, and golf teams. Her six children are current and past students of St. Mary’s School.
Custodial Staff: Mr. Rick Relyea
Rick Relyea has been working at St. Mary’s for 2 years. He is originally from Tupper Lake, NY. He has two sons and three daughters.
